Jenna and Matt live in Fort McMurray and love the winter playground they have at their fingertips, so it only made sense their engagement photos reflect their active lifestyle. Snowshoeing and a campfire (with S’mores of course) totally appealed to them and after selecting Crystal Mountain as our preferred choice for their engagement photoshoot, we hired Jordie from Selah Outdoor Explorations to safely guide us on the mountain after hours and bring along the firewood for the campfire (no easy task since everything had to be carried or pulled in on a sled). We truly could not have done this photoshoot without the expertise of our guide – so thank you, Jordie, for everything!
This hike was definitely physically demanding with all our equipment, but the results are sooooo worth it! We’re in love with these images and had a great time in the serene mountain woods along the way. Jenna & Matt are such happy, easy-going people and they never whimpered once despite descending the mountain in darkness with wet boots and cold hands. Seriously – you two are amazing!!! We can’t wait for your wedding in July at Summerhill Winery in Kelowna and love that it will be a total contrast to the cold winter atmosphere of the engagement shoot. Congrats you two!
Yup, those are bear claws on the tree. Our guide, Jordie, explained that the black bear likes to climb the tree and claw it to get the sweet nectar that flows as a result. Good thing they’re still hibernating!
Jenna’s super beautiful chocolate diamond engagement ring – well done, Matt!
Our guide, Jordie, brought the authentic snowshoes and these amazing vintage Hudson’s Bay Jackets. Jenna & Matt were totally up for a few photos wearing them. Snowshoes, campfire, and a pristine snowy mountain top – how more Canadian could this be? We love it!
