Kristy & Bruce - married on September 17, 2011
We loved everything about this intimate wedding at Summerhill Winery in Kelowna. Kristy and Bruce met in Hawaii one night when Bruce, who is a talented musician, just happened to be playing. They immediately connected and the rest is history. It is totally apparent how in love these two are – their smiles and laughter are completely infectious and everyone at the wedding commented on how deep and beautiful their love is. This wedding was a perfect fusion of Hawaii and the Okanagan, with lei flower exchanges during the ceremony and live Hawaiian music performed by Bruce and his Mother, Elaine, during the reception. Elaine brought the lei flowers all the way from Hawaii and everyone was completely enchanted by their beauty and intricate design -check out how many orchid flowers make up Kristy’s lei! Bruce’s cousin, Willy, had everyone crying with a heartfelt piece he wrote about the couple, and later had us all smiling as he performed some traditional hula dancing. We had such a great time hanging out with everyone during the day that we couldn’t refuse the offer to continue the celebration with them, luau style, at their house. Food and drinks flowed, as guests gathered around a fire outside and later on Bruce and his family continued to entertain us all with great music and hula dancing lessons. Thank you, Kristy & Bruce, for letting us be part of your amazing day and for being so gracious and welcoming. Hope you are enjoying your honeymoon on the beautiful and wild Salt Spring Island. Congratulations!

We recorded a few songs that Bruce sang during the reception and thought it was only fitting using his music to showcase their wedding images.  Our live recording does not give justice to Bruce's beautiful music, but we hope that it imparts the feeling of the day.  OK, I’m just going to say it, Bruce totally reminds us of a Hawaiian Elvis – he has such a classic smooth voice.

Amanda & Josh - to be married on June 16, 2012
Amanda & Josh are not only crazy in love, but also each other’s best friend. They were so passionate about having the ultimate engagement portraits that they worked out hard for three months prior and provided us a ton of inspiration for the vision that they wanted us to create.  What followed was a super sexy engagement session that showcased their love, amid the Okanagan’s desert-like background.  Afterwards, we headed down to the water to capture some uber sexy shots as it was beginning to get dark.  Even though they were shivering and cold, we pulled out some amazing images in the beautiful dusk lighting.  We can not tell you how much we loved this engagement session!  The styling, storyline, weather, locations...and of course our gorgeous couple came together to create an unforgettable collection of images.  Amanda & Josh, we are looking forward to photographing your wedding on June 16th, 2012 in Kelowna!

Shannon & Matt - married on September 4, 2011
After meeting Shannon & Matt back in June for their engagement session, we immediately loved their laughter and big hearts. Above all, they describe themselves as each other’s best friends. As Shannon was getting ready for the wedding, she read to me a card that Matt had written her. Even though they have been together for 7 years, he still writes her a love note every morning before he leaves. Is your heart melting? That’s got to be one of the most romantic things we have heard.
Their beautiful outdoor ceremony was held at Summerhill Winery overlooking the Okanagan Lake and was complimented by live steel drum calypso style music that gave everything a tropical feel and made us want to toss off our shoes and grab a Mai Tai. The beautiful ceremony was followed by more music, wine, and h’orderves for their guests to enjoy, while we snuck off with the couple and wedding party to take advantage of Summerhill’s property, before getting them back to their celebration. Being total wine lovers, Shannon & Matt are off on their honeymoon touring the vineyards of Napa Valley, California. Hope you both are having amazing adventures! Thanks for letting us be part of your beautiful day!

Giovanna & Eric - married on August 27, 2011
We had such a great time photographing this couple back in June for their engagement session, so we were super excited when their wedding day came. Giovanna has one of the best smiles we have ever seen, hands down. It’s one of those smiles that seem to light up a room and lucky for us, she beamed the entire day. Hard not to, when you are marrying such a humorous and awesome guy like Eric. The two of them together totally radiate and it was hard not to stop grinning back at them with all that love in the air.
After getting ready separately at The Delta Grand, they had their First Look at Waterfront Park. We loved capturing their joyful connection out in the beautiful sunshine before heading to their church ceremony. Almost all the ceremonies we photograph occur outdoors, so we were really excited to capture the stunning architecture and stained glass of St. Michael’s Cathedral. After the ringing of the church bell, the dramatic and core-shaking organ music started playing and Giovanna walked down the magnificent red carpet to meet Eric. It was beautiful to see family and friends, some coming all the way from Italy to witness their marriage.
Afterwards, we headed out to The Harvest Golf Club to capture some images with the couple and wedding party before they entered their reception. Eric’s best man, was actually a woman (his sister Christine), who’s wedding we photographed a few years back. It’s so great to photograph different members of the same family on such momentous events. Besides being awesome, Eric also has several black belts and after some champagne and fun in the orchard, he decided to pull some martial arts moves that had us all in amazement and hysterics. As Giovanna & Eric entered their reception, they wowed us all with their dance skills. Before leaving we whisked the couple away to photograph them one last time by the waterfall outside The Harvest and caught the last fragments of sunset with the dreamy glow that follows. Giovanna & Eric, we had such a fun time with you both and were honoured to be part of your wedding. Wishing you a lifetime of love & happiness!

Alejandra & Jeffrey - married on August 20, 2011
We were super excited about photographing this wedding because

a) we had never met the couple beforehand (they came all the way from Ottawa) and

b) we had never shot a wedding at See Ya Later Ranch.

Well let me tell you – both the couple and location blew us away. As we started to ascend the mountain to get to See Ya Later Ranch we felt like we are on some great adventure to a secret location. When we reached our destination we were greeted by the cutest historical stone house which dates back to the early 1900’s and jaw-dropping views of the Okanagan Valley.

We instantly were enamoured with Alejandra & Jeffrey who are super sweet, funny, and happen to have impeccable style.  During our time with them we discovered they are high school sweethearts...awww.  We loved how Alejandra, who is a graphic designer, made all the stationary, décor, and flower arrangements herself. Jeffrey is within sight of the finishing line for his career as a medical ER doctor (hehe...slight pun, since he also competed in the Ironman triathlon a week after the wedding in Penticton).  As soon as we saw Alejandra’s Vera Wang gown, we nearly fell over from its sheer beauty. Jeffrey perfectly complemented her in his classic Hugo Boss tuxedo. After the most beautiful ceremony, we started the photoshoot with the couple and wedding party around the vineyards while guests were treated to a sparkling reception featuring See Ya Later Ranch’s own sparkling wine and h’orderves. Tamsin who is the event coordinator from See Ya Later Ranch was so accommodating and even let us use her beautiful vintage car, a white Alpine Tiger, for a romantic photo-op nestled within the vineyard overlooking the stunning sunset backdrop.

We thoroughly enjoyed the wedding party entrance into the reception, with Michael, the best man and brother of the groom, doing a Canadian rendition of the Kenny Powers 'Real American' entrance from the show Eastbound & Down, complete with sparklers and cape that got everyone laughing (see slideshow).  As we left the reception, while the party was still going, we looked up at the starry night sky and saw the most amazing display of the Milky Way, which Kevin captured and is displayed as the last image on this post.  Thank you so much, Alejandra & Jeffrey, for including us in your stunning vineyard wedding.

Tracey & Richard- married on August 19, 2011

This Calgary couple chose the stunning vineyard location of Summerhill Winery to host their beautiful outdoor ceremony and unforgettable reception in the evening, which is quite suitable since they both have careers within the wine industry. Having many guests traveling from abroad, they focused on creating an awesome celebration with beautiful décor, gourmet food, amazing wine, and a party atmosphere that continued throughout the night. We loved Tracey’s gorgeous vintage inspired gown, with ornate embellishments and Richard’s mod grey suit. After the ceremony, they joined their guests to sip Summerhill’s famous Cipes Brut and snack on appetizers before we whisked them and their wedding party away for a photo-op down at Bertram Creek Park to capture the beauty of the lake. We loved how Tracey kicked off her Badgley Mischka heels, before her and Richard scaled up a massive rock (no fear!). After a fun entrance into their reception, we captured some beautiful images in the vineyard before heading back to the party where they continued to celebrate with family and friends.  We thought Tracey & Richard were extra awesome when we saw that they gave a donation to the Human Society of Northwest Montana (where they adopted their adorable dog) in lieu of wedding favours.  Congratulations Tracey & Richard – we had a great time getting to know you two and being part of your wedding day!

Julia & Dale - married on August 13, 2011

We are always excited when weddings take us out of our home base of Kelowna.  So when Julia & Dale informed us that their ceremony would be held on the shores of Vaseux Lake at their parents property and reception held at Hester Creek Estate Winery in Oliver, we were uber excited because both these locations are incredibly beautiful and really capture the magnificence of the South Okanagan.  Julia got ready at The Villas at Hester Creek Winery in the morning and looked absolutely gorgeous in her Pronovias gown designed by Manuel Mota and her sparkling Jimmy Choo shoes.  Julia is such a thoughtful and sweet person, she even bought all her bridesmaids Gucci shoes.  Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready at the lakeside property and the stage was being set for a beautiful beach ceremony. After the ceremony, a champagne toast and appetizers followed beachside, allowing guests to mingle in a relaxed environment.  We even managed to get Julia & Dale's beloved cats in for a photo-op (although the large body of water aka the lake was slightly freaking them out).  While we continued on to Hester Creek for photos with the wedding party, Julia & Dale made sure their guests would be entertained before the reception by sending them on a wine tour.  We love how all of Julia & Dale's images have a Tuscan feel to them - from the vineyards to the fountain.  The reception that followed was perfect, with elegant decor, amazing gourmet food, and phenomenal wine.  We knew that Julia & Dale definitely love their sweets when we saw their awesome candy table (which was hugely popular with guests) and their gourmet wedding cake which was brought up from Vancouver (that's serious dedication!).  The whole day flowed flawlessly and was truly unforgettable.  Thank you Julia & Dale for letting us photograph your magnificent event.  Congratulations!
